Martha Robinson
Private Music teacher
With her teaching degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, Martha has been teaching private lessons for over 20 years. Her background also includes directing choirs of all ages.
Lessons are available on piano, violin, voice, and more. Martha has worked with families large and small and is happy to teach everyone in your family. She can provide help to students who struggle, and she can challenge students who excel. Come join our studio and be inspired to make beautiful music.
Martha’s focus for students includes the following and more:
She helps string students learn good posture with the left arm high, the left wrist down (violinists and violists), the right arm pulling and pushing the bow in a straight trajectory perpendicular to the strings, the left fingers carefully placed on the string to produce excellent pitch, ears listening closely, and so much more. They learn to read music immediately and intensely work at recognizing those notes on the staff and the intervals and rhythms and accidentals.
Piano students learn good posture, with fingers curled, playing on finger tips, wrists flat, feet hanging straight down, sitting tall with a straight back, fingers carefully placed on the piano keys to produce an excellent sound, counting their beats and rhythms accurately, and so much more. They learn to read music immediately and practice reading notes on the staff, emphasizing intervals, rhythms, chords, chord inversions, and theory. They learn to play with and without music.
Singers learn good posture, strong breathing techniques, good pitch, with proper placement of the tongue and shape of the mouth and throat, proper shaping of the lips, and excellent facial expression. They learn to tell a story with their music through body movement and expression of emotions. They also learn to read music and sing it, to develop good tone quality, to blend with others, and to harmonize with others.

Pricing
Lessons are available for one student or multiple students in one family. See special pricing below.
Lesson fees are paid monthly (in advance).
Fees for February, for example, are due January 31.
Fees can be paid through Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, ApplePay, or cash. Credit cards are accepted and ApplePay with your credit card,
but there will be an upcharge for transaction fees. Transaction fees must be avoided or paid by the student. No checks please.
